GERA Leuchten receives prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2018
The iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the most coveted awards for design services. Since 1954, the iF International Forum Design has selected industrial products which set themselves apart from the competition. This year, GERA Leuchten received the internationally recognized seal of approval for its 2P3 lighting system.
The horizontal profile thus belongs to the exclusive product group, which was highlighted by a 63-strong international team of experts from 6,402 submissions. With the iF DESIGN AWARD 2018 GERA Leuchten continues its strategic success story: The award is the 10th award for products of the company from Thuringia.
“With the 2P3 lighting system, we are systematically pursuing our unique product philosophy,” says Thomas Ritt, product manager and freelance designer at GERA Leuchten. “The profile combines furnishing with light. It opens up many possibilities for contemporary interior design. ”
The graduate designer Thomas Ritt, who is responsible for the idea and the design, came in 2007 from Miele to GERA Leuchten and is responsible for the innovative conception and characteristic design of the products. Light is far more to him than just the light. In combination with furniture functions it creates atmosphere and moods. His designs are always characterized by a clear, straightforward elegance that works in a variety of living concepts. This approach is also based on the 2P3 lighting system: stably mounted on a wall, the profile becomes a filigree furniture object.
The system illuminates the room at the top and possibly a working area at the bottom. The light color and brightness can be adapted to the respective needs via a remote control. In addition, sockets and USB ports can be freely placed.
Compartments made of homely wood serve as a shelf for the smartphone, as a bookshelf or as a storage space for kitchen or bathroom accessories. Coat hooks extend the usefulness and application of the LS 2P3 in addition.
“The lighting system meets the three most important criteria that I strive for in my designs,” says Thomas Ritt. “It is timeless, simple and universal.”
These qualities also convinced the jury of the IF DESIGN AWARD, who recognize in the lighting system a solution that perfectly matches the development of modern floor plans: rooms would become more open. Where z. For example, if the kitchen is similar to the living space, there will be fewer wall units, but their functionality will have to be replaced. The lighting system from GERA Leuchten takes this development into account.
“We are very happy about the award,” says the managing director and owner of GERA Leuchten, Hening Pölitz. “Bringing light and furniture together in an innovative way is our special product philosophy. The award is a quality seal with great appeal for us. ”
